• Professional Experience -> min. eight years of software development with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL, and REST.
• Kafka (Client Requirement) -> min. two to three years of INTENSIVE practice, ideally in productive, business-critical, distributed systems – a mention in the stack is not enough.
• Technical Leadership (Client Requirement) -> proven experience as Lead Developer, Technical Lead, or similar; technically support the team and co-design refinements.
• Hands-on Component (Client Requirement) -> continues to actively develop; not a pure architect role.
• Distributed Systems -> Conception and development of distributed, scalable, and high-performance applications.
• Tools & Quality -> Unit and integration testing; GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, and Citrus.
• Industry -> Project experience in the banking or insurance sector.
• Education -> Degree in Computer Science (University or University of Applied Sciences) or comparable qualification.
• Presence (Mandatory) -> mandatory team day on-site every Thursday; exceptions only in emergencies.
• Personality & Attitude -> communicative, team-oriented, technically convincing; quality-conscious with a feel for architecture, maintainability, and performance.
• Languages -> very good German and good English.
• Operation of Kafka-based systems – monitoring, error analysis, exception processes.
• Citrus in automated integration testing of complex interfaces.
• Modernization of transaction-related systems without operational interruption.
• Remote Policy -> on-site at the client 20-40% / Home Office 60-80%, depending on project phase; remote work only allowed within Switzerland (internal regulations / banking secrecy)
• Credit and criminal record extracts will be requested (German resident: SCHUFA report and police clearance certificate).

For our end client in the Swiss banking and financial sector, we are looking for a Senior Expert Software Engineer (Java) in a technical lead role as follows:

Starting Situation & Mandate:

The end client processes very large volumes of bank transactions daily – quickly, reliably, and intelligently enriched – using Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes. The role is part of an agile team: a technical lead with an ongoing development component, shaping design and architecture and implementing demanding solutions themselves.

Important for Selection: We are looking for a senior expert at the highest level. Pure software architects, senior developers without lead experience, and profiles with only superficial Kafka experience are NOT suitable – at least two to three years of intensive Kafka practice are required.
