Senior IT Infrastructure & Systems Architect – On-Premise Migration & Legacy System Replacement

Project overview

For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure & Systems Architect to support the technical evaluation and potential modernization of an existing, complex IT system landscape.

The goal is to develop a future-proof, ideally vendor-independent system architecture to replace a highly customized existing enterprise software.

In the first step, a Proof of Concept (PoC) will be used to examine the technical possibilities for migrating to an alternative platform that can be operated independently in the long term.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and evaluation of an existing on-premise system landscape regarding architecture, technical dependencies, and integration possibilities
• Conception of possible target architectures for the modernization and replacement of existing legacy applications
• Development and evaluation of migration strategies for complex, business-critical enterprise applications
• Analysis of existing databases, data structures, interfaces, and individual system customizations
• Conception and technical support of a Proof of Concept to examine alternative platform architectures
• Evaluation of open-source technologies regarding integration capability, extensibility, and long-term operational capability
• Examination of possible AI-supported development approaches for modernizing existing software solutions
• Consideration of IT security, scalability, maintainability, and update capability
• Collaboration with internal IT managers and potential external development partners
• Creation of a technical feasibility assessment including effort, risks, and possible implementation steps

Requirements

• Several years of experience as an IT Infrastructure Architect, IT Systems Architect, or IT Solution Architect
• Profound knowledge in the architecture and modernization of complex on-premise system landscapes
• Demonstrable experience with system migrations, platform changes, or legacy system replacements
• Experience with the technical architecture of business-critical enterprise applications, ideally ERP systems
• Good knowledge of databases, data migrations, and interface architectures
• Experience in the conception and support of technical Proofs of Concept
• Ability to evaluate alternative system architectures regarding technical feasibility, operation, and long-term maintainability
• Structured and independent way of working with strong consulting skills

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central or comparable ERP platforms
• Knowledge in the migration and replacement of highly customized ERP systems
