Senior IT System Administrator Windows Server & Networks

Project overview

For one of our established partners from the upper mid-market, we are looking for temporary support as part of an ongoing infrastructure project. The internal IT team needs reinforcement in standardizing server landscapes and optimizing network operations. A structured environment with a high remote component awaits you.

Responsibilities

• Migration and consolidation of existing Windows Server structures (Focus: Windows Server 2019/2022)
• Cleanup, restructuring, and securing of the Active Directory / Entra ID environment (rights and role concepts)
• Performance optimization and troubleshooting of virtualized environments under VMware vSphere
• Revision and test run of the existing backup and disaster recovery concept (e.g., with Veeam)
• Support in 3rd level support for complex infrastructure disruptions

• Sound, multi-year project experience in classic IT system administration in a medium-sized environment
• In-depth expert knowledge in the Windows Server environment, Active Directory, and Group Policies (GPOs)
• Confident handling of VMware vSphere (cluster management, datastores)
• Good knowledge in network technology (routing, switching, firewall rule sets e.g. Sophos/Fortinet)
• Fluent German skills (min. B2/C1) for internal project documentation
• Start: Flexible in the coming month
• Duration: 3–6 months (extension planned)
• Workload: 4–5 days/week (approx. 80% remote, occasional presence in the Cologne area for hardware coordination)
• Budget: €75 – €90 / hour All-In (Net)
