For our client in the "Transport / Logistics" industry, we are looking for a "Senior Java Backend Developer / DevOps" on a contracting basis.

• Analysis of current systems, applications, and architectures, and functional assessment of their suitability with regard to defined target architecture specifications
• Conception of functional interfaces between applications and processes
• Transfer of design concepts into development for the implementation of prototypes, as well as consultation on technical aspects of implementation
• Creation of database structures and establishment of interfaces between databases and systems as a basis for documentation and decision-making
• Testing and debugging of software applications to ensure they meet specified quality standards
• Creation of technical documentation for the development process
• Creation and handover of an operations and development manual
• REST API / Spring Boot: More than 5 years of practical experience in developing REST API services with Spring Boot version 3.0 or higher
• Java Backend: More than 3 years of experience in developing backend services with Java
• Server-side Services/APIs: More than 3 years of experience in developing production server-side services/APIs
• CI/CD: More than 3 years of experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated build and deployment execution
• DevOps: More than 3 years of experience working according to DevOps principles with responsibility for build, operation, and monitoring under the "you build it, you run it" principle
• OpenAPI: More than 3 years of experience in specifying and developing REST APIs with OpenAPI
• OpenShift / Containers: More than 3 years of experience with OpenShift and containers in a professional environment
• Test Automation: More than 3 years of experience in creating and maintaining automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, including test data management/creation
• GitLab: More than 3 years of active experience with GitLab in development, particularly version control and merge request and review workflows
• Amazon Kiro: At least 1 reference for practical use of the AI-powered development assistant Amazon Kiro

Project Context

The project is part of a development team that creates customer-facing products and services with a consistent API-first approach. The focus is on high-performance backend services and, additionally, lightweight frontends. The team currently manages several production services, including those related to movement data, train checkpoints, operational reporting, production metrics, and interfaces for disruption communication. Prospectively, further innovative services in the area of traveler information are to be developed.
