Senior Java Backend Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Backend Engineer (m/f/d) for an exciting project in Munich. The position is designed with a 90% remote share and starts in January 2027 with a duration of 12 months.

In this role, you will develop and modernize existing backend applications with Java and Spring Boot. You will design complex backend services and interfaces, develop scalable microservices solutions, and actively participate in agile development teams following DevOps principles. Your tasks include creating technical concepts, contributing to architectural decisions, and analyzing complex requirements for implementing sustainable solutions.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for the operation, monitoring, and continuous further development of productive applications, creating technical documentation, and considering regulatory requirements and security standards.

We expect several years of professional experience in professional software development as well as very good knowledge of Java and Spring Boot. Profound knowledge of DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL, SQL, and data modeling is required. Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies, as well as CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments, is assumed. You should have experience with microservices, REST APIs, and modern software architectures, as well as be proficient in operating and monitoring productive systems. Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as VAIT and DORA is desirable.

Experience with agile methods and DevOps principles, analytical and independent working style, as well as teamwork and strong communication skills, complete the profile.
