Senior Java Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a team developing and maintaining enterprise-grade applications in the banking and financial services sector.

You will be involved in designing, developing and integrating backend solutions, working with modern Java technologies, microservices architecture and relational databases.

The role offers an opportunity to contribute to business-critical systems, focusing on performance, scalability, security and high availability.

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Design and implement microservices and scalable application architectures.
• Develop database models and optimize SQL queries.
• Implement application security using Spring Security and established security standards.
• Integrate applications using synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high development standards.
• Troubleshoot application issues, analyze logs and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers and other development teams.
• Participate in CI/CD processes and application deployment.
• Ensure high availability, reliability and performance of developed solutions.
• Java & Spring: Strong knowledge of Java 17/21, OOP, design patterns and practical experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate and Spring Security.
• Databases & SQL: Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server), data modelling and SQL query optimization.
• APIs & Integrations: Experience developing REST APIs, working with OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON/XML and synchronous/asynchronous integrations.
• Messaging: Understanding of messaging and event-driven communication.
• Development Practices: Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD tools, unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito), code reviews and Clean Code principles.
• Architecture & Infrastructure: Understanding of microservices architecture, Docker, application security, scalability and high availability.
• Troubleshooting: Ability to analyze application logs, diagnose issues and identify root causes.
• Previous experience in banking or financial services.
