Senior Linux System Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux System Engineer (m/f/d) for an exciting project in the Stuttgart area. The position is designed with an 80% remote share and starts in January 2027 with a duration of 13 months.

In this role, you will be responsible for the administration and further development of enterprise Linux environments based on RHEL and SLES. Your tasks include the installation, configuration, and patch and lifecycle management of Linux systems. You will analyze and resolve technical issues, implement monitoring and logging solutions, and optimize infrastructure performance.

A focus is on the automation of operational processes using Ansible and the implementation of Linux security and hardening measures. You will take care of the support of middleware and database environments and create technical operational and infrastructure concepts.

We expect several years of professional experience in the enterprise Linux environment with very good knowledge of RHEL and SLES. Sound experience in installation, administration, and troubleshooting is required. You should be familiar with Ansible and automation techniques and have expertise in Linux Security (SSH, SELinux, AppArmor). Knowledge of middleware as well as PostgreSQL and MariaDB is an advantage.

Prerequisites include very good German language skills, willingness for occasional on-site deployments in the Stuttgart area, and an existing security clearance or the willingness to undergo one.
