Job description

Analyze existing software for performance and stability issues across application, IIS, .NET, SQL Server, and infrastructure. Develop reusable approaches and transfer diagnostic knowledge to the team.

Responsibilities

Profile

  • Analysis of existing software regarding current performance and stability problems
  • Systematic narrowing down across application, IIS, .NET, SQL Server, and underlying infrastructure
  • Targeted collection and evaluation of technical measurement data
  • Identification and verifiable proof of the actual causes
  • Development of a procedure that is as reusable as possible for comparable cases with other customers
  • Joint execution of analyses with the developers, so that procedures and diagnostic knowledge are permanently transferred to the team
  • Reproduction of the problems on a test system to ensure a sustainable solution
  • Enabling the setup of an own performance test system including monitoring of CPU and RAM
  • Very good knowledge of Windows Server and experience with complex applications based on IIS, .NET, and SQL Server
  • Experience in analyzing performance problems across multiple system layers and recognizing interactions between application, web service, database, and infrastructure
  • Ability to specifically capture and evaluate relevant system and application data, such as CPU, memory, I/O, network, requests, threads, connections, and database activity
  • Experience with the analysis of bottlenecks, blocking, deadlocks, resource problems, and concurrency problems
  • Experience with sporadic and difficult-to-reproduce production problems where the necessary diagnostics must first be set up
  • Confident use of the tools common in the Windows environment for performance and production diagnostics, such as PerfMon/logman, Windows and IIS logs, as well as suitable SQL Server and .NET diagnostic tools
  • Ability to derive hypotheses from measurement data, test them specifically, and technically confirm or rule out a suspected cause
  • Experience with diagnostics on production systems that are as low-risk as possible, especially when access options are limited
  • Very good communication skills and a de-escalating mindset
