Senior SAP Software Engineer (ABAP OO / S/4HANA EAM) – from January 2027 | 12+ Months (Extension Option) | Bern (Hybrid)

For our end client in Switzerland, we are looking for an experienced freelance Senior SAP Software Engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on ABAP OO, SAP S/4HANA, and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).

As part of a long-term transformation project, you will support the replacement of an existing application and the further development of SAP S/4HANA-based solutions for the monitoring, inspection, and maintenance of civil engineering structures.

The focus is on the development and optimization of SAP EAM processes, particularly in SAP PM, as well as the integration of mobile applications and the implementation of modern development standards.

Responsibilities

• Conception, development, and further development of SAP S/4HANA applications with ABAP OO
• Analysis and technical implementation of complex requirements in the SAP EAM environment, especially SAP PM and maintenance processes
• Development and extension of functions for monitoring orders, PM notifications, inspections, and condition assessments
• Development and optimization of data models and interfaces using SQL and ABAP Core Data Services (CDS)
• Development and adaptation of modern SAP user interfaces with SAPUI5 Freestyle and SAP Fiori Elements
• Integration of mobile applications as well as connection of downstream processes and systems
• Ensuring high software quality through Clean Code, ABAP Unit, Code Reviews, and automated tests
• Performing technical tests in the SAP backend as well as supporting rollouts and quality assurance
• Contribution to a sustainable software architecture within an agile development team

• Several years of project experience in SAP development with ABAP OO in the SAP S/4HANA environment
• Profound knowledge in SAP EAM / SAP PM, especially maintenance processes and PM notifications
• Very good practical knowledge in SQL and ABAP Core Data Services (CDS)
• Comprehensive experience in development with SAPUI5 Freestyle and SAP Fiori Elements
• Confident use of ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse
• Experience in object-oriented software development as well as with Clean Code, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns
• Ideally, experience with SAP QM as well as inspection, testing, and plant management processes
• Knowledge in the integration of mobile applications with SAP is an advantage
• Experience with agile development methods such as Scrum or SAFe as well as Jira and Confluence
• Independent, structured, and quality-oriented way of working
• Native-level German language skills (C2)

• Utilization: 80–100 %
