Senior Semantic Data Architect / Knowledge Graph & Ontology Expert

Project overview

For a strategic project, we are looking for an experienced external Semantic Data Modeler / Data Architect / Knowledge Graph Consultant.

The goal of the project is to build a system-independent semantic domain model (ontology) for portfolio and project management. Information on projects, orders, costs, and assets from different source systems will be linked conceptually and modeled over their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Development of a semantic domain/data model together with the business departments
• Modeling of business objects, attributes, relationships, states, and rules
• Development of an identity concept or identity resolution across multiple source systems
• Conception of historization and relationships between project, cost, and asset data
• Conducting or facilitating modeling workshops
• Documentation of modeling rules and architectural decisions
• Implementation of the model in an open, versionable format, e.g., RDF/OWL, SHACL, or JSON Schema
• Prototypical validation on a modern data platform
• Knowledge transfer to the internal BKW team

Requirements

RDF/OWL, Property Graphs, Knowledge Graphs, canonical business object models

• Several years of practical experience in Semantic Data Modeling / Ontologies / Knowledge Graphs
• At least one productive project reference with a semantic object/relationship model across multiple source systems
• Experience with at least one or more of the following topics:
• Experience with Identity Resolution and Historization
• Very good SQL skills
• Hands-on mentality – explicitly not looking for a pure concept/enterprise architect
• Very good or fluent German language skills

Nice to have

The technical environment includes SAP ERP, NIS/GIS, and Axon Ivy, as well as Snowflake/dbt as the existing warehouse landscape. Databricks is planned as the prospective target platform for the application and ML layer.
