Senior Software Asset Manager (remote, 10 PT)

Project overview

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are looking for a Senior Software Asset Manager (m/f/d) for a client in the hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and review of existing license agreements, usage rights, and license metrics for COBOL runtime components from Micro Focus / Rocket Software.
• Technical assessment of the virtualized IT infrastructure with approx. 20 servers based on VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Reconciliation of contractually agreed license conditions with actual software installation and technical usage.
• Analysis of vCPU assignments, physical CPU cores, cluster configurations, host changes, and potentially used technologies such as vMotion and DRS.
• Evaluation of applicable sub-capacity and full-capacity licensing models, taking into account the respective contract conditions.
• Identification of potential under- and over-licensing, compliance risks, and license optimization and cost-saving potentials.
• Creation of a comprehensible license balance sheet with an assessment of the current licensing status and concrete recommendations for action for license optimization and contractual alignment.

• Sound knowledge in Software Asset Management (SAM), particularly in the analysis and optimization of complex software licensing.
• Experience with license models, license metrics, and contract conditions of Micro Focus / Rocket Software, ideally in the area of COBOL runtime components.
• Technical understanding of virtual server environments based on VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of the licensing-relevant effects of vCPU assignments, physical CPU cores, cluster structures, host migrations, and dynamic resource distribution.
• Ability to evaluate sub-capacity and full-capacity licensing models, taking into account the respective manufacturer and contract specifications.
• Experience in assessing license compliance, identifying audit risks, and deriving economic optimization opportunities.
• Ability to merge technical infrastructure information and commercial contract data to create a reliable license balance sheet and derive concrete recommendations for ensuring contract compliance and cost optimization.
