Senior Soil Expert (Interim)

Project overview

Contribution to complex soil issues within permitting and advisory services for the ODU.

Profile of the suited interim professional:

• Contributing to the streamlining and standardization of VTHA processes within the organization
• Coordination between team members and departments to substantively improve processes
• Providing independent specialist advice on soil quality, soil legislation, and remediation
• Investigating complex soil files and formulating advice and scenarios
• Assessing research results against laws and regulations such as the Environmental Protection Act
• Advising on decision-making, risks, and solution directions in projects
• Translating practical experience into input for environmental protection instruments such as environmental plans and visions
• Advising on politically sensitive files
• Identifying and flagging complex and sensitive issues
• Sharing knowledge with junior colleagues in the team
• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience at a government organization in the last 15 years
• Minimum 10 years of experience with permitting and/or advisory services in the field of soil (Soil Protection Act and Environmental Protection Act)
• Recent (last 2 years) professional experience with advisory services on Environmental Protection Act instruments, such as environmental plans
• Minimum 5 years of work experience at a province or environmental service (desirable)
• Minimum 5 years of experience with permitting and advisory services specifically on soil at an environmental service (desirable)
• Recent experience (last 2 years) with the new Environmental Protection Act (desirable)
• Minimum 1 year of work or coaching experience with streamlining VTHA processes (desirable)
• Minimum 4 years of experience with soil quality, soil legislation, and remediation issues (desirable)
