ServiceNow Solution Architect – Finance Operations Management / GBS Finance

Project overview

For an international group with around 20,000 employees, we are looking for an experienced ServiceNow Solution Architect with demonstrable hands-on expertise in Finance Operations Management.

Following the successful global go-live of the ServiceNow ITSM platform, Enterprise Service Management for Finance is to be established as the foundation of a Global Business Services (GBS) organization.

The initial focus is on Accounts Payable. Subsequently, expansion to Accounts Receivable, Record-to-Report, and Finance Master Data is planned. HR is not part of the project.

As part of solution development, the use of ServiceNow Finance Operations Management ("Buy") is to be contrasted with individual implementation based on App Engine ("Build").

Responsibilities

Development of the solution architecture for both implementation scenarios and creation of a well-founded buy-vs-build assessment.

Evaluation of the functional coverage, licensing assumptions, extensibility, and risks of both approaches.

Development of a target vision for GBS Finance and a maturity roadmap with clear benefit argumentation.

Conception of an MVP with Service Portal, structured case creation, queue and ownership management, status transparency, and reporting.

Creation of an architectural foundation for later automation and AI use cases.

Effort estimation by role and identification of synergies with the existing ServiceNow ITSM platform.

Assessment of significant risks and success factors.

Coordination and presentation of the solution to business departments, IT, and management up to C-level.

Must-Have Requirements

At least 2-3 years in an architecture or lead role within ServiceNow.

Demonstrable hands-on experience with ServiceNow Finance Operations Management.

Practical experience with ESM implementations outside of ITSM, for example in Finance, Procurement, or Shared Services.

In-depth knowledge of the Case Management Framework, especially Advanced Work Assignment and Playbooks.

Experience with App Engine and Custom Application Development.

Ability to evaluate and clearly communicate architectural decisions from a business, technical, and economic perspective.

Fluent English and confident demeanor when interacting with executives and C-level stakeholders.

Decisive Selection Criterion

Practical expertise in the ServiceNow Finance module is crucial. Pure ITSM architecture experience without demonstrable Finance Operations Management practice is not sufficient for this role.
