Siemens PLC & NC Programming Expert - Immediate Start - On-site in Giessen

Project overview

For a demanding project in the field of industrial automation, we are looking for an experienced freelance software developer (m/f/d) with in-depth knowledge of Siemens PLC and NC programming.

The focus is on programming, configuration, and troubleshooting in Siemens automation systems, as well as the integration of hardware components from other manufacturers. The freelancer will support the existing engineering team with technical challenges, system integration, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

Programming, adaptation, and troubleshooting of Siemens PLC controls with TIA Portal

Configuration, setup, and calibration of Siemens NC systems and drives

Analysis and resolution of technical faults in automation systems

Integration of hardware components from other manufacturers into Siemens-based systems

Support during commissioning as well as analysis of interface and compatibility issues

Close collaboration with the engineering team to clarify technical requirements

Evaluation of technical dependencies and support for realistic scheduling

Requirements

Priority 1 – Mandatory

At least 2 years of practical experience in Siemens PLC programming with TIA Portal, especially in troubleshooting and program creation

At least 2 years of experience in Siemens NC programming, including drive setup, configuration, calibration, and troubleshooting

Strong problem-solving skills and an independent way of working

Willingness to work 100% on-site for the entire project duration

Priority 2 – Desirable

Experience with the configuration and integration of hardware components from other manufacturers in TIA Portal

Knowledge in the integration of third-party components and industrial interfaces

Experience in commissioning, mechanical engineering, or industrial automation

You are a practice-oriented software developer with extensive experience in Siemens PLC and NC programming. You work independently, analyze complex technical challenges in a structured manner, and have the necessary experience to successfully support the integration of various hardware components.
