Job description
Seeking an experienced Solution Architect for Customs IT to guide digital transformation in the sensor and digital innovation domain, focusing on scan & detect, AI, video management, and sensor technology.
Project overview
The initial hiring period is until December 2026, with an option for extension.
Assignment Description Solution Architect Sensors & Digital Innovation.
For the Sensors department within Customs IT, we are looking for an experienced Solution Architect who can be deployed quickly and can guide complex change initiatives. You will play a key role in the digital transformation of the supervision and detection domain, with specific attention to Scan & Detect, AI, Video Management, E-commerce, and sensor technology. You will connect business, technology, and suppliers, contribute at both solution and system architecture levels, and ensure coherence within the IT landscape.
You will also ensure that solutions comply with architectural frameworks, security requirements, and laws and regulations.
Background of the assignment
Customs faces a major challenge in the coming years due to the strong growth in goods flows. To perform our core tasks faster, better, and more efficiently, we are focusing on optimally utilizing sensor technology and intelligently combining and analyzing data from internal and external sources. The Data & Digitalization department plays an important role in this and supports the digital transformation of Customs. Within ART Sensors, we work on the IT provisions surrounding the sensor landscape, including camera, scan, and detection solutions.
For the further development of this landscape, we are looking for an experienced Solution Architect who can connect architectural issues with business objectives and technological developments.
The initial focus of the assignment is on formulating functional and non-functional requirements for the IT systems and infrastructure within the sensor landscape, to support a tender process for camera surveillance for border control. In addition, you will work on designing future-proof solutions for existing and new provisions in the areas of Scan & Detect, Video Management, AI, and sensor technology. You will translate these designs into concrete architectural products and requirements that serve as a basis for future tenders and further development of the domain.

Additional Information
When you offer a professional to us as a supplier and they are placed, we will need information from you as a contracting party, including regarding the Chain and Principal Liability Act (Wet keten- en inlenersaansprakelijkheid - WKA). The purpose of the 'WKA' is to prevent abuse in the remittance of payroll taxes at all links in the chain; from supplier to client. We cover these risks for our clients by means of a blocked account, the G-account. This is an account to which a portion of the invoice amount is deposited and from which you can pay payroll taxes and VAT to the Tax Authorities.
The percentage to be deposited depends on whether you have a SNA certification (NEN-4400-1 or NEN-4400-2) and whether your company is established in the Netherlands or abroad. You can apply for the G-account from the Tax Authorities. If you cannot obtain a G-account (and you can provide proof of this from the Tax Authorities), you also have the option to submit an accountant's statement (assurance report regarding personnel lending) every quarter. In this, a certified accountant (AA or RA) will issue a statement about the correctness, completeness, and timeliness of the remittances.
Please note that the costs for this statement are at your own expense.
