A manufacturer of industrial applications near Dortmund is seeking an experienced Network/Network Security Solution Architect for a 9-month project (with extension options) to review and optimize their IT landscape. The role can be performed largely remotely.
Project overview
Our client, a manufacturer of industrial applications from the Dortmund area, is looking for a consultant in the field of Networks/Network Security (m/f/d) starting immediately.
The assignment can be performed almost entirely remotely. Sporadic travel in the Dortmund region is possible.
The workload can be up to 100% - a minimum of 60-80% is required. The duration of the project is approximately 9 months with an option to extend.

To relieve the internal subject matter expert, we are looking for a highly qualified Solution Architect in the field of Network and IT Security with strong implementation skills. The goal is to elevate the existing local network infrastructure and security concept to the next level and to design a future-proof, international redesign.

- As-Is Analysis: Review, record, and critically question the existing local network infrastructure and security concepts.
- Structure Assessment: Identification of weaknesses, bottlenecks, and optimization potential from a strict security perspective.
- Redesign & Future Architecture: Conception and creation of a scalable target architecture in line with the company's direction.
- Hands-on Support: Active participation in implementation preparation and close coordination with the internal subject matter expert. Project Context & Challenge

- High Seniority: Several years of demonstrable experience as a Network / Security Solution Architect.
- Experience with network and firewall components from Cisco, Fortinet/Fortigate, and Palo Alto (at least 2 of these with practical, demonstrable experience).
- SME Experience: Profound understanding of the requirements and dynamics of medium-sized business structures.
- Successful Project History: Verifiable track record in the conception and implementation of comparable network and security projects.
- Hands-on Mentality: You don't just think in high-level architectures, but also get involved in practical implementation and detailed issues.
- Language Skills: Fluent German and English.
- Security Affinity: Strong awareness of IT security, governance, and compliance.
- Willingness for Reference Calls: As security plays a central role, proof of your past successes (including potential contact persons for references) is desired.
- Clean Criminal Record: An (extended/police) certificate of good conduct will be requested during onboarding.
Nice to have
- Experience in a highly regulated and security-critical environment (e.g., banks or insurance companies).
