Technical Project Manager for SAP Authorization Re-Design

Responsibilities

• Taking over the technical and methodological leadership of an SAP authorization re-design project
• Overall responsibility for the structuring, planning, and control of individual project phases and work packages
• Coordination and management of the implementation partner
• Review, consolidation, and follow-up of project results, as well as preparation of status reporting
• Management of a finance pilot and preparation of further implementation stages
• Coordination with business departments, solution lines, system administrators, role owners, and technical teams
• Ensuring active participation of all relevant stakeholders and establishing clear responsibilities in the test and role model
• Management of risks, dependencies, resources, budget, and timeline
• Preparation of decision-making bases for management regarding scope, approach, and milestones
• Establishment of transparent project controlling, including reporting tailored to the audience
• Ensuring quality gates, business approvals, and audit-proof documentation
• Support of governance, test, acceptance, and proof processes up to handover to operations and formal project closure
• Integration of relevant SAP areas, including in the context of SAP R/3, SAP S/4HANA, SAP GUI, Fiori, technical users, RFC connections, custom developments, Z-transactions, and SU24

Requirements

• Several years of experience in independently managing complex SAP projects
• Very good knowledge of project planning, resource control, budget control, risk management, escalation management, and stakeholder management
• Profound expertise in SAP authorization management and in the redesign of role and authorization concepts
• Very good knowledge of SAP authorizations for SAP R/3 and SAP S/4HANA
• Experience with role architectures and authorization concepts in SAP GUI and Fiori
• Deep understanding of the principles Need-to-Know, Least Privilege, and Segregation of Duties (SoD)
• Practical experience in the evaluation and optimization of technical users, RFC connections, and transaction-related authorization concepts, including SU24
• Very good experience in handling audit, compliance, and revision requirements
• Ability to manage measures from audit findings, including proof of performance, residual risk assessment, and compensating measures
• Very good skills in coordinating business departments and external partners, as well as in driving decisions and escalations
• Good practical knowledge of the Xiting Authorization Management Suite (XAMS), especially in the areas of usage analysis, role cleanup, role design, SoD assessment, and simulations
• Very good German language skills, both written and spoken

Background of the task:

For a client company, we are looking for a Technical Project Manager SAP Authorizations / Re-Design. The position will take central control of a comprehensive project to realign the SAP authorization landscape. The goal is to sustainably address existing audit and revision findings and to establish a future-proof authorization concept for prioritized SAP systems. The focus will be on minimizing critical authorizations, reducing SoD risks, and introducing task-oriented role models based on the principles of Need-to-Know and Least Privilege.

Due to the high technical and organizational requirements, an experienced project manager with pronounced SAP expertise in the authorization environment is sought.
