Web Content Specialist

Project overview

Our higher education client is looking for a Web Content Specialist with 3+ years of experience in website content management, digital communications and content writing. This is a part-time freelance engagement expected to run through June 30, 2027, averaging up to 20 hours per week. Experience working in higher education is strongly preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create, write, edit, format, publish, and maintain website content using WordPress
• Review and update existing web content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and relevance
• Ensure adherence to established brand voice, editorial standards, and content protocols
• Maintain academic program pages, departmental pages, landing pages, and other institutional web content
• Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to develop and update content that supports organizational goals
• Review published content for spelling, grammar, formatting issues, broken links, and overall functionality
• Partner with the Web Manager to identify and resolve content accessibility and usability concerns REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Digital Media, or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in web content management, digital communications, content writing, or related work
• Experience using WordPress or a comparable content management system
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Understanding of website accessibility and usability best practices
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a deadline-driven environment
