Project overview

Background: Statsbygg is developing Rigg, an internal application platform for secure and reliable data exchange. The platform is based on Azure Kubernetes Service and GitOps, and integrations will be developed in C#.

Need: Two backend developers and one infrastructure developer are needed to contribute to a newly started platform team for integrations, in close collaboration with internal platform developers and relevant professional communities.

Responsibilities

  • Clarify integration needs and interfaces, develop and test the initial integrations, and prepare them for production and further management.
  • Build in security, error handling, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the platform and contribute reusable components and integration patterns.
  • Further develop the platform and establish production clusters and a blue/green strategy for replacement.
  • Manage Azure networks and implement security and network policies.
  • Develop infrastructure as code, automated CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and documented operational procedures.
  • Improve the developer experience with simple, predictable, and self-service workflows. Contribute to reusable components, automation, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • New development of integrations or backend services from requirements clarification and solution design to production deployment and further management.
  • Both synchronous API integrations and asynchronous, message- or event-based integrations, and be able to justify pattern choices based on needs, dependencies, and reliability requirements.
  • Design, documentation, and versioning of APIs, message contracts, and data models.
  • Developing, deploying, and troubleshooting containerized applications on Kubernetes-based application platforms.
  • Secure system communication, access control, and handling of sensitive information using OAuth2.0 and OpenID Connect.
  • Operationally friendly applications with structured logging, metrics, tracing, and notifications, for example, OpenTelemetry.
  • Development of applications and integrations on Azure, including secure access with Entra ID and Managed Identity.
  • Collaboration with professional communities and system owners on data flow, data quality, source responsibility, and discrepancy management, translated into feasible technical solutions.
  • Handling of timeouts, repeated delivery attempts, duplicates, partial failures, and reprocessing, without data loss and with preserved data integrity.
  • Interaction with data platforms, information management, and master data (MDM).
  • Establishment and operation of AKS in production, including cluster migration or blue/green replacement with a rollback strategy.
  • Independent technical responsibility for Azure networks, including routing, firewalls, private endpoints, and DNS in Landing Zone or Hub/Spoke environments.
  • Development and maintenance of version-controlled infrastructure as code with Terraform or Pulumi, including automated validation and deployment through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improving Developer Experience on internal platforms by mapping developer needs and translating them into simple, self-service workflows that reduce complexity and manual assistance.
  • Pulumi and C#/.NET.
  • Policy as code, for example, Kyverno/Cilium policies or automated GitHub provisioning and organizational rules.
  • Structured knowledge transfer and guidance to make internal development and operational environments more self-sufficient.
  • Senior consultant (3–7 years of experience).
  • Communicate in writing and orally in Norwegian.
  • Contribute to technical direction, patterns, and guidelines, knowledge sharing, and competence transfer.
  • AI-assisted development and automation shall be used where it provides value, within Statsbygg's requirements for security and quality.
