Design Engineer Medical Technology

Project overview

For an innovative company in the field of medical technology and surface coating, we are looking for an experienced freelance designer or design engineer (m/f/d). You will support our team in the development and optimization of mechanical components as well as the supervision of product developments up to series readiness, taking regulatory requirements into account.

Your tasks include the development and design of mechanical parts, assemblies, and fixtures, the creation and maintenance of standard-compliant technical drawings and 3D models, as well as support in prototype development up to series readiness. You will work closely with the manufacturing, quality assurance, and other specialist departments, implement design changes, and document them within the scope of change management. Furthermore, you will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in the medical technology environment and create technical documentation according to ISO 13485.

We expect a completed degree in mechanical engineering or design engineering, as well as several years of experience in mechanical design. Very good knowledge of common CAD systems, sound experience in creating standard-compliant technical drawings, and good knowledge of handling various materials are required. Experience in the medical technology environment and knowledge of ISO 13485 are essential. Ideally, you have experience in the field of surface coating or corrosion protection.
