🏠 2 days of remote work / week - 📍 Lyon (69) - Villeurbanne - 🛠 Minimum 5 years of experience

Developing a radio protocol, optimizing communication between embedded equipment, and intervening up to hardware debugging: this is the core of this mission.

We are currently looking for an Embedded C Development Engineer – Radio Protocols to work with one of our clients on fire detection systems.

You will work on the evolution of a radio protocol, low-level driver development, and the integration of communications between control panels and detectors.

A position that combines embedded C development, radio expertise, performance optimization, and technical responsibilities for a software component.

Your missions: from radio protocol to target integration

You will be involved in the entire development cycle of the radio component, from specifications to testing and releases.

1/ Radio development and integration

2/ Optimization and diagnostics

3/ Testing and software quality

4/ Technical referent for the radio component

Beyond development, you will be responsible for the technical monitoring of the component:

The technical environment

You will work on real-time embedded systems, with strong constraints on radio communication and energy consumption.

  • Implement evolutions of the fire radio protocol, particularly security mechanisms related to the CRA (Cyber Resilience Act).
  • Analyze RF engineer specifications and assess their software feasibility.
  • Specify the D24 RaIL and ensure its convergence with the Alpha component's radio interface.
  • Develop the logical layer of the Silicon Labs SI4461 driver and integrate the radio component on control panels (U5) and detectors (U3).
  • Optimize timings, radio communication times, and energy consumption per exchange.
  • Analyze communication failures and identify their root causes, including through hardware debugging.
  • Work on the reliability of radio exchanges between equipment.
  • Set up unit tests, non-regression tests, and bench protocol tests.
  • Perform cross-tests between control panels and detectors.
  • Set up continuous integration (CI) for the radio component.
  • Perform reviews and validations of Pull Requests with the deputy referent.
  • Manage versions and releases.
  • Document technical choices and ensure their traceability.
  • Contribute to the CRA compliance file.
  • Share your knowledge and support technical transfer within the team.
  • Language: Embedded C
  • Microcontrollers: ARM Cortex-M, ideally STM32
  • Architecture: bare-metal, real-time, low power
  • Radio: sub-GHz protocols, MAC/link layers, SI446x transceiver drivers
  • Security: AES, authentication, anti-replay protection, key management
  • Testing and debug: automated tests, radio sniffer, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer
  • Quality: embedded CI/CD, static analysis, MISRA C
