Development Engineer – Single-Use Systems / Fluid Technology / Biotechnology

Project overview

For an exciting project with one of our clients in the biotechnology sector, we are looking for an experienced freelance development engineer / product developer with a focus on single-use systems, plastics technology, and fluid technology, starting immediately.

Project Framework Data

Within the scope of the project, existing development concepts for single-use flow kits in the biopharmaceutical environment are to be further technically developed and transferred to two additional scalable single-use systems.

The focus is on the development and technical design of plastic fluid lines, hose systems, and associated components such as filters, pumps, and sensors.

The goal is to create a technically mature, documented, and validation-capable development solution as a basis for prototype construction and subsequent industrialization.

Responsibilities

Technical evaluation and further development of existing product designs for single-use systems

Transfer and adaptation of existing development concepts to further scalable system variants

Technical design and specification of plastic fluid lines, hose systems, and single-use components

Evaluation and selection of suitable components, especially hoses, filters, pumps, connectors, and sensors

Conducting design reviews and evaluating technical solution alternatives

Creation and maintenance of product specifications, bills of materials, and development documentation

Documentation of technical decisions, changes, and quality and production-relevant requirements

Creation of verification and validation concepts as well as evaluation and documentation of test results

Technical preparation of prototype construction and subsequent industrialization

Documentation and maintenance of relevant development data in SAP and Polarion

Requirements

Completed technical degree, e.g., mechanical engineering, plastics technology, process engineering, medical technology, or a comparable qualification

Several years of experience in product development, ideally in the field of single-use systems, fluid technology, or plastics technology

Sound knowledge in the development and technical design of hose systems, plastic components, and fluid-carrying systems

Experience with filtration systems, pump technology, sensor technology, and associated system architectures is an advantage

Experience in evaluating technical development concepts and conducting design reviews

Knowledge in creating technical specifications, bills of materials, and development documentation

Experience with verification and validation processes in a regulated development environment

Ideally, industry knowledge from biotechnology, the pharmaceutical industry, medical technology, or comparable sectors

Knowledge of SAP and Polarion is an advantage

Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working

Good German and English language skills
