Environmental Advisor

Project overview

For a large infrastructure project in the data center environment, we are looking for an experienced Environmental Advisor as a freelancer. The project is located near Frankfurt am Main and runs for 18 months with full utilization, starting immediately.

As an Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for the comprehensive environmental impact assessment and evaluation of project impacts on air, water, soil, biodiversity, and residents. You will conduct site analyses, assess contaminated sites, flood risks, and protected areas. A focus is on permit management: you will ensure that all relevant environmental requirements, standards, and laws are complied with and coordinate communication with authorities and other stakeholders.

Furthermore, you will develop sustainability strategies and ESG concepts, particularly regarding energy efficiency, CO₂ reduction, and waste heat utilization. You will advise on resource and energy management, monitor construction phases for compliance with environmental requirements, and prepare comprehensive environmental reports as well as ESG documentation.

Required are a degree in an environmental field (environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or related disciplines), sound knowledge of environmental and planning law, and practical experience with permitting procedures for infrastructure or industrial projects. Technical understanding of data centers (energy supply, cooling, efficiency metrics) is required. Sustainability and ESG competence as well as project management skills complete the profile. Fluent German and English skills are necessary.
