FREELANCE | Expediting Manager / Supplier Expediting | Mechanical and Plant Engineering

Project overview

• For a challenging industrial project in mechanical and plant engineering, we are looking for an experienced freelance Expediting Manager to actively secure critical delivery dates from suppliers and sub-suppliers.
• In a weekly, cross-functional high-risk meeting, particularly critical deliveries are identified and prioritized. Based on this, you will independently plan the necessary supplier visits, analyze the actual manufacturing progress on-site, and develop concrete measures together with the suppliers to eliminate bottlenecks and restore delivery capability.
• We are looking for a practice-oriented personality who understands manufacturing processes, recognizes risks early, and consistently follows up on critical deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Participation in the weekly, cross-functional meeting for the identification and prioritization of critical high-risk deliveries
• Assessment of deadline risks and independent planning of necessary supplier visits
• Europe-wide travel to escalated suppliers, particularly in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain, and other countries
• Analysis of the actual manufacturing progress directly on-site, especially regarding material availability, production capacities, manufacturing sequence, and outstanding processing steps
• In-depth root cause analysis for endangered deliveries and identification of concrete bottlenecks within the supply chain
• Development and tracking of measures to restore delivery capability and secure critical delivery dates
• Coordination with suppliers and sub-suppliers on capacity increases, accelerated manufacturing processes, parallel process steps, and possible partial deliveries
• Review of critical milestones, deadline deviations, and actual delivery forecasts
• Assessment of quality-related obstacles, such as missing inspections, documentation, necessary rework, or blocked components
• Consistent follow-up of agreed-upon measures and escalation for still endangered delivery dates
• Creation of regular status reports with risk classification, causes, countermeasures, responsibilities, and updated delivery forecast

• Several years of experience in expediting, supplier management, supply chain management, or manufacturing and deadline control
• Sound understanding of industrial manufacturing processes in mechanical and plant engineering or comparable technical industries
• Experience in the operational support of critical suppliers and securing endangered delivery dates
• Ability to critically question on-site manufacturing statuses, identify bottlenecks, and derive reliable delivery forecasts
• Experience in root cause analysis as well as in the development and consistent tracking of action plans
• Willingness for regular Europe-wide travel and independent organization of supplier visits
• Experience in collaborating with various departments and international suppliers
• Assertiveness, strong communication skills, and a pronounced hands-on mentality
• Structured, self-reliant, and results-oriented way of working
