Freelance Project: Control Specialist (m/f/d) – HPCi / P80i GE – Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line

Project overview

For an industrial project in the field of hot-dip galvanizing, we are looking for an experienced freelance control specialist (m/f/d) for the adaptation and expansion of an existing machine control system.

As part of a machine conversion, several existing machines will be replaced by new ones. For this purpose, the previous machines and their functions must be removed from the existing control system, and the necessary control functions and interfaces for the new machines must be implemented.

The existing automation environment is based on the following systems:

• Control System: HPCi (Converteam / GE Vernova / Alstom)
• Visualization / HMI: P80i GE

Responsibilities

• Analysis of the existing control architecture and existing control programs
• Adaptation and expansion of the existing HPCi control system
• Removal or deactivation of control functions for replaced existing machines
• Creation and adaptation of interfaces to the new machines
• Integration of the new machines into the existing plant control system
• Adaptation of the HMI visualization based on P80i GE
• Support with tests, commissioning, and error analysis as needed
• Documentation of the changes made

We are looking for a specialist who understands the existing control systems and can implement the necessary adjustments as efficiently and safely as possible.

The project start is planned for 2027. The specific availability, scope of deployment, and project duration will be agreed upon individually.

• Sound experience in industrial automation and control technology
• Practical experience with HPCi control systems from Converteam / GE Vernova / Alstom
• Knowledge of the associated HMI or visualization systems, ideally P80i GE
• Experience with adapting existing control systems and integrating new machines
• Knowledge of industrial interfaces and machine communication
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
• Experience with complex industrial plants, ideally in the field of metallurgy or hot-dip galvanizing, is an advantage
