Global Program Director – Enterprise Modernization & Technology Transformation

Project overview

For a multi-year modernization program at a global insurance group, we are looking for an experienced Global Program Director (contract, 12 months with option).

Responsibilities

You will have end-to-end responsibility for a complex transformation program across multiple regions (EMEA and USA), business units, and application portfolios. Your responsibilities include leading parallel migration and modernization workstreams, coordinating diverse stakeholders with diverging priorities and migration approaches, and establishing executive governance with steering committee reporting, financial oversight, and delivery assurance.

You will be responsible for the scope, roadmap, milestones, budget, benefits, risks, and dependencies of the overall program. You will lead a global matrix organization of program and project managers, architects, subject matter experts, and engineering teams – without direct line management authority. Your role focuses on strategic transformation leadership at a senior level, not on hands-on technical implementation.

Requirements

You bring 20+ years of experience in technology and transformation, including proven leadership of large, multi-year enterprise programs. A basic understanding of mainframe environments is advantageous; deep technical expertise is not required. You possess strong skills in executive governance, cross-organizational coordination, risk management, and business continuity.
