Host/Mainframe Developer COBOL/DB2

Project overview

For our client in the insurance industry, we are currently looking for an experienced Host/Mainframe Developer (COBOL/DB2).

The focus is on the migration and integration of partner data and the harmonization of associated systems. For this purpose, host-based applications for processing and synchronizing partner data will be further developed and adapted. The goal is to ensure process security, data quality, and availability across different systems.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of existing host applications, data structures, and interfaces
• Development and adaptation of COBOL programs for processing and migration of partner data
• Creation and optimization of SQL queries and DB2 database objects
• Conception and implementation of migration and integration solutions, including error analysis
• Execution of unit, integration, and migration tests as well as technical documentation

Requirements

• Several years of experience in Host/Mainframe development with COBOL and DB2
• Very good knowledge of SQL, DB2 databases, and data modeling
• Experience in analyzing, adapting, and further developing existing legacy applications
• Experience with data migrations and system integrations
• Knowledge of batch and online procedures in the mainframe environment

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PL/I
• Experience in the insurance industry, ideally in the partner or policy management context
