Interim Senior Project Manager Special Machine Engineering – External Procurement (m/f/d)

Project overview

For a demanding project in special machine engineering, we are looking for 2-3 experienced interim project managers.

Our client is an internationally active industrial company specializing in the development, design, and manufacturing of complex production and automation systems. As part of an extensive project, numerous assemblies and stations are to be manufactured, assembled, electrically implemented, commissioned, and validated by external manufacturing partners. Development, design, software development, and electrical planning, as well as the production of initial prototypes, remain with the client.

Experienced project managers are sought to independently manage external procurement and its implementation, ensuring smooth collaboration between internal departments and external manufacturing partners.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Technical Requirements

Project Data Number: 2–3 Interim Project Managers

• Independent preparation, coordination, and management of external procurement for assemblies and stations
• Ensuring the timely provision of all necessary information and documents from design, software development, and electrical planning
• Coordination and review of specifications, technical specifications, assembly, and validation documents
• Definition and assurance of uniform standards and quality requirements
• Management and monitoring of external manufacturing partners regarding deadlines, quality, project progress, and risks
• Ensuring efficient and binding communication between internal departments and external suppliers
• Coordination and support of external manufacturing, assembly, electrical implementation, commissioning, and validation
• Early identification and resolution of technical and organizational interface problems
• Ensuring compliance with agreed project goals
• Systematic recording and evaluation of lessons learned and their integration into existing processes and standards
• Completed university degree in mechanical engineering (Dipl.-Ing., Bachelor, or Master) – mandatory requirement
• Several years of demonstrable experience in the independent management of complex projects in mechanical and special machine engineering
• Sound experience in external procurement and management of manufacturing and assembly services in special machine engineering
• Very good technical understanding of design, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning of complex machines and systems
• Demonstrable experience in collaborating with external manufacturing partners, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Experience in creating, reviewing, and implementing technical specifications, specifications, and quality requirements
• Strong competence in technical and organizational interface management between design, software development, electrical planning, and external partners
• Experience in deadline, cost, quality, and risk management of complex mechanical engineering projects
• Ideally, experience with highly automated production systems, assembly stations, and their commissioning Personal Requirements

• Assertive demeanor and ability to assert oneself with internal and external project participants
• Structured, independent, and results-oriented way of working
• High technical understanding and pragmatic hands-on mentality
• Ability to reliably coordinate complex technical and organizational interfaces
• High resilience and confident handling of demanding project situations
