IT Infrastructure Consultant VDI Transformation

Project overview

For our client, we are looking for an IT Infrastructure Consultant to draft a decision paper for a possible VDI transformation.

Background

The goal is to create a robust decision paper for budget planning, based on a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, the evaluation of possible courses of action, and the consideration of experience gained from comparable transformation projects.

Responsibilities

• Support in creating a decision paper regarding the future of the existing VDI infrastructure
• Recording and evaluation of the current Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
• Analysis of the existing architecture, hardware, software, and dependencies
• Identification of technical weaknesses, bottlenecks, and optimization potential
• Evaluation of possible target architectures, especially a switch to a Fat Client infrastructure or a hybrid approach
• Economic and cost analysis, taking into account licensing, hardware, operation, support, and personnel costs

Requirements

Framework Data:

• Experience with a comparable transition and its support, to bring in new perspectives and point out typical pitfalls
• Experience in evaluating a VDI environment regarding a possible replacement or further development
• Experience with a transition/migration from Citrix to Fat Clients
• Ability to argue not only technically but also to assess operating costs and organizational impacts
• Ideally, experience in a regulated environment, for example in the banking or financial services sector
• Experience with Citrix and Citrix App Layering desirable
• Start: asap (ideally by 9.11.)
• Utilization: 5-8 PT total (distributed until the end of November)
• The assignment can be carried out completely remotely
