IT Specialist / Junior to Mid-Level Security & Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

Rollout of Security Solutions: Support in the implementation and configuration of endpoint protection systems and SIEM solutions.

Active Directory (AD): Secure configuration, management, and administration of Active Directory structures and Group Policies (GPO).

System Hardening: Practical hardening and secure basic configuration of servers (Windows/Linux) and network components.

Patch & Configuration Management: Performing regular updates, patch management, and configuration checks in segmented networks.

DevSecOps Integration: Support in integrating automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines.

Migrations: Participation in staged, disruption-free migration projects in protected network environments.

Network Segmentation: Contribution to the operational implementation of zone concepts and the separation of classic IT, OT, and special systems networks (e.g., radar, command, and communication systems).

IAM & PKI: Practical management of Identity & Access Management (IAM) and certificate management within the PKI landscape.

Security Standards: Application and adherence to IT security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, IEC 62443, BSI IT-Grundschutz) as well as security clearance and classification requirements.

Collaboration: Support for senior architects in risk analyses and threat modeling.

What You Bring

Education / Qualification: Successfully completed training as an IT specialist for system integration, IT system electronics technician, or a comparable degree/qualification in the IT field.

Work Experience: Initial practical experience (Junior, from 1-2 years) up to solid experience (Mid-Level, approx. 3-5 years) in IT system administration, network technology, or IT security.

Technical Skills:

Good knowledge of Windows Server landscapes, Active Directory, and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls).

Initial experience or strong interest in IT security technologies (Endpoint Protection, SIEM, PKI, IAM).

Basic understanding of scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash) or CI/CD processes is an advantage.

Security Clearance: Willingness to undergo a security investigation (Ü2/Ü3 according to SÜG) is mandatory.

Work Style & Personality: Analytical thinking, high reliability, teamwork skills, and the desire to continuously learn about complex security topics.

Language Skills: Very good German language skills, both written and spoken (minimum C1 level).

About the Position

In this role, you will support the practical setup, security, and operation of highly complex and critical IT infrastructures in the defense environment. You will work closely with experienced senior architects and gradually take responsibility for the technical implementation of IT security solutions, zone concepts, and deployment processes in highly secure network environments (IT/OT/special systems).
