Java Full Stack Developer

Project overview

Senior Java full-stack development for applications around soil, subsurface, and groundwater data at a public organization in Flanders.

Profile of the suited interim professional:

• Translating functional requirements into technical solutions and determining their best structure
• Monitoring the quality of deliverables together with colleagues and end-users
• Developing Java-based applications, including coding, testing, and debugging
• Developing applications with which data about soil, subsurface, and groundwater samples and observations are supplied and managed
• Maintaining existing applications and contributing to new developments
• Participating in sprint review, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups of the development team
• Contributing to the further elaboration of an API-first strategy
• Potentially taking on a leading role, directing the development team, and coaching other developers
• Demonstrable education with certification in Java/J2EE or equivalent experience
• Experience with Java development, JPA/Hibernate, REST, and Spring Framework/Spring Boot
• Ability to code, test, and debug independently
• Knowledge of API design
• Familiarity with Maven, Git, test-driven development, and test frameworks such as JUnit and AssertJ
• Experience with Agile development methodologies, preferably in a leading role
• Experience in directing a development team and guiding developers
• Experience in the public sector is a plus
• Knowledge of a Flemish government context is a plus
• Affinity with the domain of soil and subsurface is recommended
