Lead DevOps Engineer

Project overview

The initial hiring period is until December 2026, with an option for extension. As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will work closely within one of the platform teams of the Belastingdienst's Integration Competence Center (ICC). The relevant platform team develops and manages API Management for both internal (AMD) and external (AMX) use. The API Management platform consists of Google's Apigee, with the management plane on Google Cloud and the data plane on an OpenShift platform within the Belastingdienst. Currently, the internal API Manager is almost ready and will be launched into production this year.

This means internal Belastingdienst teams can start using the API Manager, transitioning the product from the DEV to the OPS phase. The external API Manager is still in the DEV phase, with an MVP planned for completion this year. The team lead is expected to collaborate with the platform team on the realization of the API Management solution, coach team members where necessary, provide overall oversight to ensure the right things are being done, and coordinate with the environment (within ICC with the architect and outside ICC with the OpenShift team and the network team, among others).

The platform team currently consists of a mix of internal and hired DevOps Engineers. The intention is to make the team more future-proof over the next year by replacing hired staff with internal employees. The current Lead DevOps Engineer has found another challenge within the ICC, hence the search for a replacement. It is essential that the team lead has knowledge and experience with Google's Apigee product as well as the OpenShift platform, and is also skilled in communication. Furthermore, knowledge and experience of the Belastingdienst is a significant advantage.

We cover these risks for our clients by means of a blocked account, the G-account. This is an account to which a portion of the invoice amount is deposited, from which you can pay payroll taxes and VAT to the Tax Authorities.
