Job description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work on conceptual and creative design for production services and maintain P&IDs. You will be responsible for developing new ideas, creating technical drawings, and updating P&IDs.
Project overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work on conceptual and creative design for production services and keep P&IDs up-to-date.
Profile of the suited interim professional:
- Developing new ideas and concepts by investigating feasibility and possibilities
- Creating high-level sketches and refining them step-by-step into concrete design proposals
- Developing installation designs and incorporating input from all stakeholders, from concept to detail
- Creating 2D and 3D technical drawings according to applicable standards and specifications
- Transferring developed concepts with a clear drawing package to project teams
- Explaining designs during meetings and adjusting based on feedback
- Regularly visiting production services to identify needs and test designs
- Clearing the backlog of P&ID updates and following up on new requests
- Keeping P&IDs up-to-date and checking field changes through field checks
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as electromechanics or mechanics, or a comparable level built up through work experience
- At least 3 years of relevant experience as a draftsman-designer within an industrial production environment, preferably in the process, chemical, or metal sector
- Knowledge of industrial installations, including piping, pumps, tanks, fittings, and structures, from both a maintenance and design perspective
- Able to independently assess an installation on-site and translate this into a drawing
- Able to independently create 3D models and 2D drawings according to applicable standards
- Experience with interpreting, creating, and updating P&IDs, including processing findings from field checks
- Familiarity with at least one 3D CAD package, such as Creo, Inventor, SolidWorks, or Plant 3D, supplemented with knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable 2D package
- Fluent knowledge of Dutch and practical knowledge of English for technical documentation
