Project overview

This a great opportunity to join a team to build a RAG based chat bot for a client to help them query their internal data. Working through our consultancy client you will build and maintain high-performance Python services and APIs within the existing architecture and translate technical designs and requirements into clean, well-tested, production-ready code.

You will participate in code reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback, help identify and address bugs, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues in owned services and write clear documentation and contribute to engineering standards and runbooks.

Tech wise we are looking for someone with a deep understanding of Python's async model

You will need to be on the client site in either Warwick or Wokingham 1 day a week and the role will be inside IR35.

  • event loop mechanics, coroutines, task scheduling, and avoiding common pitfalls like blocking the loop. Solid hands-on experience with asyncio and writing production-grade async code with a strong proficiency with FastAPI
  • routing, dependency injection, background tasks, lifespan events, and Pydantic validation. Have a solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and query optimisation who is comfortable working within defined technical constraints and patterns set by a lead engineer. You will need experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines with a strong attention to detail and a bias toward writing clean, maintainable code. Experience with async database drivers (asyncpg, SQLAlchemy async) and with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Celery, or similar). Familiarity with cloud platforms
  • AWS, GCP, or Azure and exposure to data engineering or ML pipelines. Tech stack is Python 3.11+, FastAPI, asyncio, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions.
