SAN Technical Expert (m/f/d); FREELANCE; Germany

Good afternoon,

I am looking for an experienced SAN Technical Expert to support a strategic assessment and optimization of an enterprise storage environment within the financial services sector. The consultant will evaluate the current SAN, block storage, and Oracle Exadata landscape and provide recommendations for improving performance, resilience, scalability and cost efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• Assess existing SAN infrastructure, enterprise storage, and Oracle Exadata environments.
• Analyze capacity, utilization, growth, redundancy, and support models.
• Establish a TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) baseline and identify optimization opportunities.
• Review HA, replication, backup, and disaster recovery architectures.
• Develop service-class and storage sizing models.
• Evaluate storage tiering, data reduction, and capacity management strategies.
• Assess Fibre Channel vs. Ethernet-based storage solutions.
• Define future-state architecture and optimization recommendations.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and executives.
• Strong expertise in Enterprise Block Storage and SAN Architecture.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata and alternative database platforms.
• Knowledge of Database Licensing, support, and cost models.
• Deep understanding of High Availability (HA), Replication, Backup, and Recovery solutions.
• Experience with Infrastructure TCO Modelling and Business Case Development.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive-level communication skills.
• Experience in regulated environments, ideally Banking or Financial Services.

Capacity: Full-time

first contract 3 months (extension expected)

Remote and on-site Share: Remote with occasional travel to Switzerland will be required based on project needs and prior agreement with the client. Regular weekly on-site presence is not expected.
