Function

Digital exams in the Netherlands must always be correct, regardless of what happens behind the scenes. At Facet, you, as a Senior Requirements Engineer, work on the foundation of this. You translate rules, exceptions, and dependencies into clear requirements and ensure that all links in the chain connect properly. This way, you make a direct impact on a system trusted by thousands of users daily. Facet is the system where digital tests and exams are administered and processed. You ensure that the functional aspect is correct, aligns with practice, and works consistently throughout the chain.

You bring structure to complex issues and translate laws and regulations, business rules, and user needs into clear requirements and functional designs. You switch smoothly between the big picture and details, depending on what is needed to arrive at the right solution. You investigate issues, question assumptions, and ensure that choices are explicit and traceable. You make visible how processes and systems are interconnected. By clarifying dependencies, you help teams understand the impact of choices, so solutions not only work locally but also hold up in the rest of the chain.

You work closely with developers, testers, product owners, and external agencies and stakeholders. You ask critical questions, test assumptions, and help make choices explicit, especially when interests or priorities are under pressure. In practice, this means you analyze, formulate, and manage requirements, develop functional designs for complex chain processes, and translate business rules into workable specifications. You make chain impact visible for changes and support decision-making with scenarios and clear analyses.

You are involved in the entire lifecycle from design to realization and testing. When insights change, you adjust. Not out of control, but out of responsibility for coherence and quality. You also contribute to improving the way of working within the team by sharing knowledge and thinking along about working methods and standards.

Facet supports the entire process of digital testing and examination in the Netherlands. From the delivery of exams by test suppliers to the administration, assessment, and analysis of results. The system is used by secondary vocational education (VO), vocational education (MBO), and Dutch as a second language (NT2) institutions and plays a central role in the digital exam chain. Quality control and approval are carried out by the Inspectorate of Education, after which DUO ensures release and planning. The four DevOps teams within Facet work closely together in an Agile environment.

The software runs on a microservices architecture and is continuously developed and improved, with stability and further development going hand in hand. As a Senior Requirements Engineer, you play an important role in the coordination between teams and in monitoring the coherence within the chain.
