Senior GIS Consultant (QGIS / Open Source GIS)

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior GIS Consultant with a focus on QGIS and open-source solutions for a project in the field of geospatial data infrastructures. The position can be filled remotely from Germany and runs from 01.01.2027 to 31.12.2027 with 60 percent part-time.

In this role, you will advise the client on strategic GIS issues, particularly on the advantages of QGIS compared to commercial alternatives and WebGIS solutions. You will assess the feasibility of functional requirements, create cost estimates, and present solution alternatives in a management-friendly format. Furthermore, you will develop functional and technical architectures for target solutions and support project management in the technical steering of the team.

You will work closely with project managers, subject matter experts, and developers, participate in regular project meetings, and support agile processes according to SCRUM.

Requirements include at least 5 years of experience with QGIS and geospatial data infrastructures, as well as 5 years of practical application of open-source solutions in WebGIS and Desktop GIS. You must have demonstrably provided technical guidance to at least 3 developers in QGIS projects and have experience in project management in the transport and logistics sector (with 5 references each). An ISO/IEC 27001 certification is required.

Presentation and moderation experience, a university degree with a geo-reference, knowledge of geodatabases (PostGIS, GeoPackage), and experience with data management, quality assurance, and agile methods (at least 5 years each) are desirable.

Native-level German is required.
