We are supporting a technology driven organisation within the energy sector that is looking for an experience Senior Software Engineer to support the development of scalable backend systems and data driven applications.

You will work on technically challenging projects involving backend architecture, data integration and software solutions supporting the German energy market.

This opportunity would suit a hands on engineer who combines strong software development expertise with a practical understanding of energy sector processes and systems.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and applications.
• Build and improve integrations between backend systems, data processing workflows and external platforms.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical solution design.
• Develop software supporting energy market operations and associated business processes.
• Work with cloud infrastructure, automated deployments and modern development practices.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver reliable, maintainable software solutions.
• Strong professional experience in backend software engineering, ideally at senior or lead level.
• Hands on experience developing software within the German energy market.
• Knowledge of German energy market processes such as Marktkommunikation (MaKo), WiM, EDIFACT, energy billing or master-data management.
• Experience building scalable applications, APIs and system integrations.
• Good understanding of data engineering principles, data flows and processing pipelines.
• Experience with software architecture, CI/CD and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently, take technical ownership and communicate effectively in English.
• TypeScript and modern Node.js frameworks, such as NestJS.
• Python development and cloud based data processing.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable cloud environments.
• BigQuery or similar data platforms.
• Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
• Experience with energy market APIs, metering systems or distributed energy technologies.
• German language skills.
