• Develop applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Build scalable and resilient services on AWS
• Design and implement microservices and REST APIs
• Develop event-driven services using Kafka
• Build and integrate Front End applications using React
• Work with Kubernetes and OpenShift
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions
• Develop automated tests and CI/CD pipelines
• Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues
• Use Claude and AI-assisted engineering tools to support development and testing
• Recent Financial Services experience
• Strong Java development experience
• Strong Spring Boot experience
• AWS
• Cloud-native architecture and distributed systems
• Microservices and REST APIs
• Kafka/event-driven architecture
• React
• Kubernetes and/or OpenShift
• Automated testing and CI/CD
• Claude, Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted software engineering tools
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills
• Generative AI/LLMs

• AWS Bedrock or similar GenAI platforms

• Experience integrating Generative AI into applications

Project details

Northampton - Hybrid

Working Pattern: 2 days per week onsite/3 days remote

Contract: Initial 12 months

Hours: 40 hours per week

£600-£700 per day (inside IR35)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a major programme for a top financial services client.

Candidates must have recent Financial Services experience to be considered and must live within approximately one hour's commute of Northampton.

This is a hands-on engineering role working across Back End, Front End and cloud technologies to build modern cloud-native applications and distributed systems.
