VMware Engineer - 6 Month Contract - Hybrid in Ireland - Outside IR35
Role Overview
We are looking for a VMware Engineer to join on a 6-12 month hybrid contract based in Ireland. The role covers the design, deployment, and support of enterprise virtualisation platforms, ensuring they are resilient, secure, and performant, and working closely with infrastructure, networking, storage, and security teams to deliver and maintain reliable virtual infrastructure.

- Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter
- Configure and maintain NSX and vSAN, supporting software-defined networking and storage
- Perform platform upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and performance tuning
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex virtualisation incidents, providing root cause analysis
- Automate routine tasks and platform provisioning using PowerCLI, Ansible, or Terraform
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, build guides, and operational procedures
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter in enterprise environments
- Experience with NSX and vSAN, ideally within VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Automation experience using PowerCLI, Ansible, or Terraform
- Solid understanding of storage, networking, and backup/DR in virtualised environments
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- desirable: VCP/VCAP certification, Horizon, Aria/VCF Operations, Kubernetes on VMware
