Job description

Seeking an experienced freelance sub-project manager for conveyor technology, bulk material handling, and heavy plant engineering for a large revamp and optimization program of an industrial energy plant. The role requires technical expertise to analyze existing systems, develop solutions with operations and suppliers, and manage implementation.

Project overview

Sub-Project Manager (m/f/d) Conveyor Technology / Bulk Material Handling / Heavy Plant Engineering

For an extensive revamp and optimization program of an industrial energy plant in Schleswig-Holstein, I am looking for an experienced freelance sub-project manager (m/f/d) for conveyor technology, bulk material handling, and heavy plant engineering.

As part of the program, several technical optimization and modification projects will be implemented on an existing plant. A large portion of the measures are currently still in the concept or feasibility phase.

We are explicitly looking for a technically proficient project manager, not just a project administrator, who can analyze existing plants, develop practical technical solutions together with operations, maintenance, and suppliers, and then lead them to implementation.

Tasks / Projects

Optimization of existing fuel reception and processing systems

Development of technical solutions for contaminant separation

Investigation, optimization, and partial redesign of existing mechanical conveyor lines

Conducting weak point and bad actor analyses

Optimization of existing mechanical systems to ensure reliable plant operation

Development of a plant concept for the expansion and decoupling of ash handling

Management of feasibility studies as well as basic and, if necessary, detailed engineering

Coordination of external engineering service providers, plant constructors, and suppliers

Technical tenders and bid evaluations

Supervision of assembly, modification, and commissioning

Profile Sought

Several years of experience as a project manager / sub-project manager in industrial plant engineering

Sound experience with conveyor technology and bulk material handling systems

Knowledge of mechanical conveying systems, such as apron conveyors, screw conveyors, belt conveyors, screening technology, and magnetic separators

Experience with fuels, ash, waste, recycling materials, or comparable demanding bulk materials is an advantage

Experience with brownfield, retrofit, or revamp projects

Good knowledge of interface coordination with mechanical engineering, steel construction, and E&I

Experience in managing plant constructors and suppliers

Ability to independently develop technical concepts together with operations and maintenance

Experience from the concept phase through to assembly and commissioning

Very good German language skills

Experience from energy plants, power plant construction, waste-to-energy, recycling, cement, steel/metallurgical industry, mining, or comparable bulk material and heavy industry plants is particularly interesting.
