The RIVM researches topics important for public health. You will work in a complex innovative environment with laboratories and specialized facilities. Do you want to use your experience with data and business intelligence for societal issues that affect the Netherlands? At the RIVM, you will ensure that complex data is converted into reliable and usable insights that researchers, policymakers, and administrators can build upon.

Your activities

As a Tech Lead BI, you will take the lead in technical and substantive matters and oversee the entire BI landscape. You will consult, set the necessary directions, and actively contribute to the directions of the tech stack needed. You will take the lead in technical and substantive matters and act as the point of contact for complex BI issues, architecture, and standardization. You will liaise with researchers, end-users, and technical colleagues to translate information needs into robust and future-proof solutions.

In this role, you will act as the point of contact for substantive issues and report to the Product Owner. You are the specialist in BI architecture, data modeling, security, and lifecycle management. You will advise stakeholders such as researchers, policymakers, administrators, data scientists, and experts from security domains, and translate their information needs into robust solutions.

You will design, build, and manage BI solutions such as dashboards, reports, and datasets. You will access, combine, and model data from various complex source systems and monitor performance, availability, and data quality. You will contribute to establishing standards, documentation, and knowledge sharing with colleagues.

Background of the assignment

You will work in the Data Application and Visualization department. This department supports data scientists and researchers with modern tooling and substantive expertise in data integration, metadata, data analysis, and visualization. There is ample room for renewal, change, and innovation within the department. For example, the department is making strides in the deployment and application of AI.

The team consists of about twenty passionate and experienced specialists. It is a young team, where it is important that you, as a Tech Lead, can substantiate your choices well. Furthermore, it is a self-managing team. The team has a helpful and pleasant atmosphere where the pursuit of quality and job satisfaction go hand in hand. We work hybrid, which means you will work about half the time in Bilthoven and half the time from home.

Additional Information

When you, as a supplier, offer a professional to us and they are placed, we will need information from you as a contracting party, including regarding the Chain and Principal Liability Act (Wet keten- en inlenersaansprakelijkheid). The 'WKA' aims to prevent abuse in the remittance of payroll taxes at all links in the chain; from supplier to client. We cover these risks for our clients through a blocked account, the G-account. This is an account to which a portion of the invoice amount is deposited and from which you can pay payroll taxes and VAT to the Tax Authorities.

The percentage to be deposited depends on whether you have a SNA certification (NEN-4400-1 or NEN-4400-2) and whether your company is located in the Netherlands or abroad. You can request the G-account from the Tax Authorities. If you cannot obtain a G-account (and you can provide proof of this from the Tax Authorities), you also have the option to provide an accountant's statement (assurance report regarding personnel lending) every quarter. In this, a certified accountant (AA or RA) will issue a statement on the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the remittances.
